Privacy Policy

HealthTracker helps families coordinate daily care for an elder family member. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. In plain terms: your family's care data stays within your household, we never sell it, and we never use health data for advertising.

1. Who this is for

HealthTracker is used by adult family members (“caretakers”) and the elders they support (“patients”), organised into a household. Accounts are created by a family caretaker or an administrator. The app is not intended for children.

2. Information we collect

• Account data: name, email, phone, hashed password, role (admin / caretaker / patient), and household.
• Care data (health-related): care routines and tasks, task-completion status, optional notes, optional readings (e.g. blood-pressure or blood-sugar values), optional photos you choose to attach, and patient-profile details you enter (date of birth, conditions, assisted level, emergency contact).
• Family journal: mood check-ins, posts, comments, and reactions you share within your household.
• Technical data: IP address and basic request logs, for security and abuse prevention.

We collect only what you provide or generate in the app. We do not collect your location or contacts, or device identifiers beyond what a push-notification service requires if you enable notifications.

3. How we use it

• To provide the service: show routines, record completions, send reminders and acknowledgements, and power the family journal.
• Security & abuse prevention: authentication, rate-limiting, and audit logging of sensitive actions.
• To notify you — in-app, and (if you opt in) by WhatsApp, SMS, or email.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use health or care data for advertising.

4. How it is shared

• Within your household only. Care data and journal entries are visible to members of the same household — never to other households.
• Service providers (processors): hosting, database, and — only if you enable reminders — a messaging provider (e.g. Twilio). They process data on our behalf under contract.
• Legal: we may disclose data if required by law.
• No third-party advertising, and no data brokers.

5. Consent

Care and health-related data is processed on the basis of consent. By adding a patient, the caretaker confirms they are authorised to enter that person's information. A patient (or their authorised representative) may withdraw consent and request deletion at any time — see Your rights.

6. Storage & security

• Passwords are hashed (bcrypt); data is stored in an access-controlled database.
• Transport is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) in production.
• Access is role-based and scoped to the household; sensitive actions are audit-logged.
• Secrets are kept server-side, never in the client.

7. Retention

We keep data while your account is active. On account deletion we remove personal and care data within 30 days, except minimal records we must retain for legal or security reasons (e.g. limited audit logs), which are then deleted on their own schedule.

8. Your rights

You may access, correct, export, or delete your data. Caretakers and admins can edit or deactivate members in-app; for a full export or permanent deletion, contact us at the address below. Where applicable — including India's Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, or the GDPR for EU users — we honour the rights those laws grant.

9. Medical disclaimer

HealthTracker is a care-coordination and reminder tool, not a medical device. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified clinician for medical decisions. In an emergency, contact local emergency services.

10. Children

The service is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

11. Changes

We will post changes here and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes will also be notified in-app.
